There's something truly magical about opening a gift. It's the little element of surprise - who knows what could be inside the package! Think about getting an unwrapped gift; it feels less special, or like the person giving it didn't go the extra step to present it carefully.

But gift wrap and gift bags are hugely wasteful. As a parent who has wrapped gifts for my kid, it's so frustrating to spend time and money on gift wrap that gets torn apart and trashed in mere seconds. You may think that you could mitigate this by recycling the paper, but - alas! - most gift wrap is NOT recyclable. Any paper that has a metallic finish, waxy or plastic coating, or tape pieces attached can't be recycled.

I'm absolutely thrilled to partner with Wrappr to offer a winter collection of Furoshiki wraps and cotton bags that are zero waste and reusable. And beautiful, in my own totally unbiased opinion.

What is Furoshiki?

Furoshiki are traditional Japanese fabric wraps with an ancient history. Originally used to carry clothing, furoshiki became a popular way to wrap and carry all sorts of goods. Wrappr has some amazing tutorials on how to use furoshiki! The options are endless.

Why Wrappr?

Wrappr was founded by Brittany Trafford as a way to add beauty - and not more waste - into the world. Not only are Wrappr's furoshiki wraps a zero waste alternative, they're also incredibly beautiful. Wrappr is committed to the planet and to supporting artists by commissioning and licensing new work.

The Wondrous Collection

The amazing thing about a zero waste product like a furoshiki wrap is that it's (duh) reusable. I truly love winter gift giving, but I have definitely been in the situation of "oh no, we don't have any more Hanukkah wrapping paper!" Wouldn't it be lovely to capture the feeling of opening the door on a cold winter day, when everything is still quiet and still? There's something absolutely delicious about the anticipation of upcoming celebrations. Those still, small moments are so special.

The Wondrous Collection comes in three sizes and three colorways, and you can also purchase a bundle of all three. I designed the colorways to feel wintry but not holiday specific, since zero waste shouldn't be limited to only certain holidays! I was so inspired by the idea of a universal celebration that's also good for the planet.

As someone who is endlessly inspired by nature, and all its perfect imperfections, I started imagining the forest animals preparing for their own holiday celebrations. Plus, I just know all the forest animals would be cheering you on for every small step you take to help, including using zero waste gift wrap and bags.

Cotton Gift Bags

I'm delighted to include a set of zero waste, reusable gift bags to the Wondrous Collection! I created a repeat pattern with elements from the original design. Although they're meant for gifts, you could really use them for just about anything! These cotton bags also come in three colorways and three sizes, and you can purchase a bundle, as well.

I really love the idea that the bag is part of the gift giving and receiving experience, that what you're left with after you open your present is ANOTHER present that you can keep and reuse. How fun is that!
